Winchester, Va.-based Trex- the largest U.S. scrap film recycler announced plans to build its third U.S. production facility in Little Rock, Arkansas, which will be potentially the largest manufacturing facility of Trex. The construction is expected to begin by early-2022, with first production expected by 2024.
The polyethylene (PE) recycling and composite lumber production capacity will be built over the next five years at an investment of approximately $400 million, which will be mainly funded using ongoing cash generation. The site will sit on nearly 300 acres of land within the Port of Little Rock. It will have dedicated buildings for production, warehousing and administrative offices.
The proximity of the facility to major transportation hubs will result in significant savings in freight costs. The added capacity positions the company to better serve its distribution and retail partners domestically and abroad. The new production complex will boost railcar activity at the port.
Bryan Fairbanks, President and CEO, Trex said that the new site represents strategic investment in the company’s future as well as the future success of its valued partners. The company believes that it is the right time to further expand its capacity, so as to position the company for future growth.
