On Friday, August 27th, the Price Index showed that North American copper and aluminium scrap prices continued to rise. Scrap prices for brass and bronze were also higher on the Index. The prices of stainless steel and steel scrap did not move on the Index.
Copper Scrap Prices
On Index, the price of Alternator scrap increased by $0.01 per pound. #1 Copper Wire and Tubing increased in price by $0.16 per pound. Prices for #2 Copper Wire and Tubing increased by $0.16 per pound. The cost of #1 Copper Bare Bright increased by $0.16 per pound.
Over the previous day, the price of #1 Insulated Copper Wire 85 percent Recovery increased by $0.04 per pound. On the Index, prices for #2 Insulated Copper Wire 50 percent Recovery also climbed by $0.02 per pound. #3 Copper-Light copper prices rose $0.16 per pound.
The price of copper radiators increased by $0.03 per pound.
On September 22nd, 2021, the cost of copper transformers, Cu/Al radiator ends, and copper yokes all increased by $0.01 per pound.
Aluminum Scrap Prices
Over the course of the day, 1100 Scrap prices rose by $0.01 per pound. On Index, the price of 3003 Scrap increased by $0.01 per pound. 356 Aluminum Wheels and 6063 Extrusions/Fe both increased by $0.01 per pound.
Over the course of the day, the price of 6063 Extrusions increased by $0.01 per pound.
In the meantime, prices for 5052 Scrap and 6061 Extrusions were both up $0.01 per pound from the previous day.
On Index, the prices of Al/Cu Radiators and Al/Cu Radiators/Fe both increased by $0.03 per pound. Over the course of the day, the prices of aluminium radiators and aluminium radiators/Fe both increased by $0.01 per pound.
Brass/Bronze Scrap Prices
On the Index, the price of brass/bronze scrap in the North American area rose.
On September 22nd, 2021, the prices of 70/30 brass scrap, 80/20 brass scrap, and 85/15 brass scrap were increased by $0.04 per pound.
Prices for brass radiators increased by $0.03 per pound.
Over the course of the day, the price of Brass Radiator/Fe and Brass Radiator Ends both increased by $0.01 per pound.
On Index, the prices of Red Brass, Yellow Brass, and Rod Borings each increased by $0.04 per pound.
