TERRA Partners to Bridge Digital Divide in Philadelphia

The Electronics Reuse & Recycling Alliance (TERRA) Done with IT program has partnered with Digitunity and PHLDonateTech program, aimed at bridging the digital divide in Philadelphia. The partnership will collect, refurbish and return devices to residents in need across the city.

The residents are urged to visit the PHLDonateTech page at Done with IT in order to request a free shipping label. Each label could be used to return up to 10 lbs of laptops or tablets in good condition. The program will not accept broken or outdated equipment. As part of ensuring the protection of personal data in the donated equipment, all hard drives and other storage media will be wiped or physically destroyed by a certified e-waste recycling and ITAD service provider.

Steven Napoli, President and CEO, TERRA said that Philadelphia has sufficient number of retired devices adequate to close the digital divide. The initiative aims to make the process of getting them into the right hands, simple and secure. The joint program with Digitunity will be replicated in more cities across the country, he added.

The program will help individuals and families to have access to quality no-cost or low-cost devices
