In 2019, he became offensive coordinator again and the Raiders led the nation in scoring, total offense, completion percentage and passer rating. A 1984 Mount Union graduate, he was a three-year letterwinner as a defensive back from 1981-83, earning All-OAC honorable mention honors his senior year as team co-captain. Playing career Candle was born in Salem, Ohio. The 2005 Mount Union coaching staff remains intact throughout the entire 2005 season, leading the team to another successful season and conference championship victory.
